TROLLHAUGEN FARM NEWS

Our solar system was upgraded this fall with a new inverter and components capable of running all of our tools and equipment. All solar equipment is now housed in a new powerhouse that has a control room, an adjustable panel rack on the roof, and space for a future biodiesel fuel tank. Thank you Gary McArthur for your great work!

Future Plans
We are now planning for additions to the equipment barn: paddling gear room, winter equipment room and rodent proof food packout room.We are also planning a large woodworking shop, made with materials harvested from the land. The harvesting of wood will involve careful logging, possibly with horses. In turn this project will lead to opening an old pasture on the mountain and improving the trail network.

Farm Expansion
In addition to the garden next year we are planning on having chickens, four sheep and a horse at camp! We already have seven chickens and two roosters. The chickens are seven months old and have begun laying eggs. Brita, a four year old Norwegian Fjord mare joined us on January 15th. She is beautiful and is getting used to her new life in our family. She likes the cold and is used to living outside all the time! Misha is working with Fair Winds Farm in Brattleboro learning how to work with horses. Finally, we are planning on getting bottle-fed lambs in the spring from the Majors who run a large sheep dairy farm in Putney. In early summer Misha, Lynne and the boys will move to Trollhaugen farm with all of the animals. (Miron is planning on riding the horse over the mountain!) Misha and Lynne will live at base camp with their whole family throughout the busy season.
