Diversity Coordinator VISTA

The Diversity Coordinator VISTA will support Kroka’s vision to make our wilderness programs accessible to all regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ability to pay. In 2016 Kroka passed a resolution to direct our energy toward diversity and inclusion throughout our programming. We recognize that in a rapidly changing world we have a responsibility to stand up for the rights of the Earth and all human beings. The Diversity Coordinator VISTA will join our hardworking staff team to carry out a strategic plan focused on increasing the diversity and cultural competency of our staff and student body.

Responsibilities include:
  • Research and obtain grant funding to support diversity programming
  • Conduct outreach to local schools, businesses, and community members
  • Plan and coordinate staff trainings focused on diversity and cultural competency
  • Assist Program Coordinator in facilitating diversity-oriented programming
  • Assist Marketing Director and Hiring Manager with outreach tasks and marketing plans
  • Represent Kroka in the national dialogue about diversity in outdoor education
  • This position includes infrequent travel throughout the New England region. Frequent evening and weekend work is expected.
Recommended Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, community development, social justice, or related field
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a non-profit or educational setting
  • Proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Office; experience with FileMaker and Adobe Creative Suite a plus
  • Experience working with low-income and minority youth
  • Outgoing, creative, and open-minded
  • Valid driver’s license & reliable source of transportation
  • Able to work in a variety of outdoor settings on varied terrain and through all seasons
  • Preference will be given to applicants who present the following:
  • Experience with grant writing, fundraising, and community relations
  • Experience teaching, guiding, or mentoring youth in an outdoor setting
  • Love of adventure sports and outdoor recreation
  • Commitment to personal fitness
  • Enthusiastic about simple living, farming, and community

Compensation and Benefits:
The Diversity Coordinator is a full-time position and is eligible for benefits according to Families in Transition NH and the Center for National and Community Service policies. Benefits include:

  • Living Stipend of $990-$1222/month
  • 10 paid personal days and 10 paid health days each year
  • Professional training stipend of $50
  • Health insurance
  • Moving stipend (if applicable)
  • End-of-service award of $1,500-$5,000
  • In addition to the benefits offered by FITNH, Kroka provides:
